Welcome to second issue of Boston Awaaz

Welcome friends and comrades. This is the second edition of the Boston Awaaz. We started Awaaz to have a platform to express our thoughts in writing and to be able to share among friends. We do wish to promote healthy, incisive dialog, even if it is with oneself in the form of a reflection. We do not have any definite shape in mind yet but we do have certain aims in mind. We hope we will gradually take shape as a thought-provoking avenue, local yet very global!

In this issue, please find:

• poems: two on the festival of Diwali and its deeper significance; one on life's journey.
• A writeup on the contradictions of urbanization in non-western milieus.
• A report on the visit by activists Bhargavi Rao and Leo Saldhana of the Environment Support Group to Boston
• A variety of reflections on events around us.
• A take on the strident nature of right-wing talk-shows.
